What is a VolunTeen?

The VolunTeen Program is an unpaid volunteer opportunity offered to teens in 7th-12th grade. It mirrors a real job experience in a lot of ways. There is an application and a formal interview process. Most of the volunteering is during our very busy summer season, with a few school-year opportunities each semester.

What do VolunTeens do?

  • Assist the Youth Services Staff with programs and activities, including working directly with parents and kids.
  • Help prepare craft projects and other hands-on prep work.
  • Be a smiling face and a library advocate!

How do I become a VolunTeen?

Applications are available online and at the Children's Desk in April. The application window for 2024 is now closed. The Youth Services staff will review the applications and will schedule interviews with selected teens in May.

If selected from the applicant pool, you will be contacted by the Teen Librarian no later than May 6th to schedule an interview. This is a competitive opportunity with limited spots available, and not every applicant is accepted for an interview. An interview does not guarantee a spot on the VolunTeen roster. Reliable transportation is critical. Thank you for your interest!
